EU: A fierce competition in the domestic malt markets for deliveries in 2006

The discrepancy between available malt stocks and capacities on one side and demand on the other side has led to a fierce competition in the domestic markets for deliveries in 2006, analysts commented. Sales have been concluded at average prices of EUR 225,-/230,- delivered breweries, even lower levels were reported. Resulting malting margins of EUR 50,-/60,- per ton will produce losses even in the most efficient factories.
